T-rays for speedy internet

  • May 16, 2012 | Pippa

Do your internet downloads seem to take for ever?

It could be because you need a higher-frequency bandwidth for your Wi-Fi. Scientists in Japan have developed the fastest ever wireless data transmitter. It uses ‘T-rays’, a different part of the electromagnetic spectrum away from the overcrowded frequencies we currently rely on. Data beams out of the transmitter 20 times faster than your home Wi-Fi, equivalent to downloading a high-definition movie in four seconds.

At the moment it only has a very small range, but it could eventually revolutionise the way we transmit data across the internet.

Higher internet speeds could be on the way with the use of T-rays.

Worth further investigation before getting excited about faster downloading…

Based on our results we argue that a specific terahertz radiation exposure may significantly affect the natural dynamics of DNA, and thereby influence intricate molecular processes involved in gene expression and DNA replication.
