Play that funky music

  • June 19, 2012 | Elise

I’m always listening to music. It’s fascinating how it has changed, from Bach to The Kinks to Muse.

Scientists are studying the evolution of music using DarwinTunes – software that creates loops of sound. People vote on their favourite and the most popular choices combine to form a new loop. It’s musical survival of the fittest! After thousands of loops a cacophony of noise evolves into a nice tune.

Historically composers have been behind musical genius, but could this software create the ultimate tune?

Interesting but do not think its ready yet to replace creativity of individual composers.
