Plastic light shines bright

  • December 3, 2012 | David

I like fluorescent lights – they’re much more efficient than old incandescent bulbs. But their light is poor quality and the bulbs contain toxic chemicals, so there’s lots of room for improvement.

Enter plastic lights. Scientists have announced new plastic lights which emit bright white light with a natural quality. They’re made from three thin plastic layers that emit light when an electric current passes through them. They’re claimed to be twice as efficient as fluorescent bulbs. Best of all, the lights can be made into any shape – my imagination is running wild!

No longer made of glass, the new lights cannot break so easily.
