It was a thrill to catch the first glimpse of my little sister during my mum's ultrasound. But not everyone is that lucky. Many women around the world don't get access to scans during pregnancy, which can mean threats to baby's life going unnoticed.

A big problem is the lack of ultrasound trainers and time. Now a new simulator might be able to help; it can train staff quickly and cheaply.

Let's hope this training tool gives greater access to ultrasound worldwide and shortens waiting lists in the UK.

Would you consider training as an ultrasound technician?

The simulator uses 3D imaging and gives the user the sense of scanning a real patient.
