I've heard about antibiotic resistance in the news, but I don't know much about it. Apparently tuberculosis is one of the many diseases that can be resistant to antibiotics.
British scientists have just achieved a world first in treating the disease. They've worked out the genetic code of different strains of TB, so they can test if a person has TB that is resistant to antibiotics or not.
It's great to hear about breakthroughs like this. I hope this helps doctors know when not to prescribe antibiotics and reduce antibiotic resistance.
