I love spending time in the sun. I do wear sunscreen, but sometimes I get burned anyway. This study really worries me.

Researchers have found that UV light disrupts the gene that's meant to protect our DNA from damage. This damage appears as sunburn, and over time it can lead to skin cancer. Wearing sunscreen is important, but on its own it isn't enough to protect our skin.

I'm off on holiday soon. As always I'll be packing the sunscreen, but I also think its time I invested in a beach umbrella...

Are you more likely to avoid the sun now?

Sunscreen should be combined with other ways to protect the skin from sun, such as hats and shade.
