One drawback of living in the UK is that solar panels can't provide non-stop electricity. You might produce loads of power in the summer, but when winter rolls in you'll be left in the dark.

Tesla motors, better known for snazzy electric sports cars, has made a new battery for the home that will allow people to store excess energy on sunny days. But as it has a £2000 price tag, I don't think I'll be getting one any time soon.

Would this battery make you go green?

Tesla's new batteries provide up to 10 kWh of electricity - about enough to power a household until lunchtime.

Its exciting, this is a start to finding ways of storing energy. , How long will these type of batteries last , how heavy are they, and security would need to be built in as I suspect they contain some valuable materials.
