My stomach ties in knots when I read about the horrible effects radiation has on people who've been exposed to large doses.

Now there's hope that a new drug may be able to reduce the damage high levels of radiation do to the body.

It would be great if this drug works - thousands of lives could be saved in the event of another disaster like Fukushima. So far though, as ever, it looks like it needs more testing.

How do you feel about radiation?

Exposure to high levels of radiation will 'fry' the gastrointestinal tract - there is currently no treatment.
