Scientists have developed a plan to build a large-scale quantum computer. The design could dramatically increase the speed at which computers process information.

Quantum computers might help doctors design new treatments for currently incurable diseases, revolutionise encryption and make communicating online much more secure. But they could also be exploited by criminals to make their activities harder to track.

I hope scientists consider the positive and negative consequences of such a revolutionary technology.
