I've been waiting a long time for my first glimpse of Pluto. As a schoolboy, I read about possible missions with growing excitement. What could this distant object look like?

In 2006 NASA finally launched the New Horizons probe towards the edge of our Solar System. As it makes its final approach, it's sent back the best image yet of the dwarf planet.

On 14 July it will make the first ever flyby of Pluto. But we'll have to wait several months for all the images to be sent back.

Well, I've waited this long already...
