A study of 10,000 earthquakes has shown that the Moon is affecting their strength. In the same way that the Moon's gravity pulls on the oceans to make tides, it also puts strain on the Earth's tectonic plates during certain phases of the Moon.

Knowing this, we might be able to better predict how powerful earthquakes will be - which could save a lot of lives.
