The UK government is pushing ahead with unbranded cigarette packets. Good - especially since a new report has highlighted just how deadly lung cancer can be.

The statistics from the report are grim. Half of people with lung cancer die within six months of diagnosis. One in five die within a month.

The report cites late diagnosis as one of the main reasons for the poor survival rates. Why wait till it's too late, people? Just stop smoking now!

How do these statistics make you feel?

Every year 200,000 children aged 11 to 15 start smoking in the UK.

I was a hard smoker for nearly 30 years. Definitely the worst decision of my life. I'm off them 6 years now. There should be serious fines or even jail for anyone who sells or supply cigarettes to kids.

I clicked the link which took me to a news story not the report. Following the link from the BBC website took me to the website of the charity that commissioned the report. How those statistics made me feel was concerned enough to check out the actual facts. I think it is poor practice for the science museum not to have a clear link to the data.

I have tried to stop smoking, but I find it very very difficult
