Keeping my mobile charged is always a challenge. There never seems to be a power source when you need one.

Scientists have been looking at this problem too and have come up with a striking idea. They've managed to charge a phone in the lab using lightning.

I know with our changing climate there is a need for new energy sources, but I'm not sure how helpful this would be for me. The researchers made it very clear this isn't something you should try at home.

Would you charge your mobile with lightning?

Lightning strike

A lightning strike is a static charge passing through the air from clouds to the ground.
