It sounds like something from James Bond, but by 2019 the UK Ministry of Defence should have completed a prototype laser weapon.

Although other organisations are already using lasers to take down drones, information about what this laser might do is vague. So far we know it will be used to locate and track targets from long distances.

It's a sad reality that weapons are needed, but I'd prefer to know more about the laser weapon. That way the society it's meant to protect could have a say on what's being developed.
