I've always been fascinated with the idea of aliens. Is our Earth the only oasis of life in the cosmos? Or are there other planets like ours?
Researchers trying to answer these questions have been looking at data from NASA's Kepler telescope. They've detected a whopping 1284 new planets beyond our Solar System. Nine of them are enough like Earth that they could have liquid water and potentially even life.
As techniques for studying distant solar systems are constantly improving, I think the chances of finding life elsewhere are growing all the time.
