I don't like houseflies, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I thought they were only useful for spreading diseases... but I was wrong.

Scientists think houseflies could help us find cures for human diseases by showing us how to carry lots of pathogens without getting ill.

The housefly's entire genome has now been sequenced, and scientists have been able to identify the genes that make houseflies immune to the pathogens they carry.

It's great to hear how houseflies can help us, but I still don't like them.
