I get so anxious about receiving test results that it puts me off going to the doctor. This would certainly be the case if I was tested for HIV.

Fortunately, researchers have developed a new self-test kit so concerned people can get their results themselves. The test shows if antibodies triggered by the virus are present without the need to send samples to a lab.

The developers advise positive results should be followed up with clinical tests. But would you trust a negative result?
