Imagine if cells from your body could live for ever, spread and shared all around the world by scientists doing medical research. Would you want that?

Henrietta Lacks had cancer cells removed from her body without her consent in 1951. The cells lived on in laboratories and enabled many medical advances. Yesterday, her family were finally given recognition and handed some control over who can use the cells.

Medical research is very important, but I think that respect for patients and donors must be a top priority.
