My mum spoils her grandkids rotten with treats and presents. But the best thing she's done for them might just be staying in shape when she had her own kids.

new study suggests obesity-linked health problems skip a generation. So while obese mums can have seemingly healthy children, their grandchildren still inherit an increased risk of obesity and diabetes.

This relationship requires further study. But if you're really, really keen on being the world's greatest grandparent some day, you'd do well to start by being a healthy parent first.
