I believe internet connectivity is crucial for everyone. But 4 billion people around the world still lack an affordable connection.

Facebook has unveiled OpenCellular - a shoe-box-sized device that can provide a wireless network anywhere. The hardware will be open source, so anyone can set up a network in a local community.

A previous internet app from Facebook sparked controversy as it only gave access to a limited number of websites, not the whole internet.

Hopefully this will be different...
