Ebola is a seriously scary disease, and it's spreading fast. Surely everything should be done to treat those infected?

But what about giving Ebola patients untested drugs? Liberians will now be offered Zmapp, a drug that has had no safety trials in humans, only in monkeys in the lab.

Is it ever OK to bypass the rules that make sure medicines are safe? In this one, rare case I think it is - as long as the patients understand the risks.
