Small flying drones seem to be popping up everywhere. They take great videos and have hundreds of other applications. But they could also threaten our privacy and safety. How do we control their use?

New draft rules in the US ban pilots flying drones beyond their line of sight. That means lots of uses, such as flying a circle around a burning building to assess a fire, will be illegal. I think the rules are too strict. I'd rather they focused on pilot training than difficult-to-enforce restrictions.

How strict should drone laws be?

Many small drones have cameras fitted to give their pilots a first-person view of their flight for added control.
