Dementia is a terrible disease that I never want to have. But how do scientists decide the best way to study it?

Animal rights advocates think scientists should focus on human-based research methods. They say animals are too different to humans for animal research to be useful.

I think it's important to explore every avenue of research even if, regrettably, this involves experiments with animals. As long as it's well regulated, I think the potential of curing dementia outweighs concerns about animal research.
