What do you see when you look in the mirror? I don't think about the way I look much, but if I had a serious accident I'd surely want to look like myself again. But what if that meant a face transplant?

That's the question firefighter Patrick Hardison had to answer. He's recovering from the world's most extensive face transplant. I'm not sure how I would feel seeing a different face in the mirror, but I think it's amazing that surgeons are giving people such as Patrick a chance to choose.

The operation, performed by surgeons in New York, involved replacing Patrick's eyelids, ears, lips and part of his scalp.
