There's lots of evidence to show that breast milk is beneficial for newborn babies. I certainly think it's a good idea to breast-feed.

Scientists in Brazil looked at the long-term effect of breast-feeding on the IQ of 3500 babies. They found that babies who had been breast-fed for longer scored higher on IQ tests as adults.

Experts think this supports current advice that babies should be breast-fed for six months. I think more research is needed, but I hope it encourages expectant mothers to think about breast-feeding their children.
