Trials of a 'bionic eye' implant, helping some blind people regain their sight, are under way.
Ten people will have a small electronic chip implanted into their eye. They will also wear glasses with a small camera attached, which then transmits the image to the implant. This stimulates the eye's remaining cells and sends the information to the brain.
For the first time since going blind, those being treated will be able to see light and movement. But I wonder how they were chosen, and how many people will be able to have this expensive treatment in the future.
