Green Games

  • August 13, 2012 | Rohan

The Olympic Games are over. I thought the closing ceremony was an amazing spectacle and full of energy. Huge though the games were, it might surprise you to know that this year’s Olympics was the greenest ever.

The organisers made the Games green by doing what we do at home – recycling – on a much larger scale. Over a quarter of all material used in the Olympic sites was from recycled sources. Even land was recycled as the Olympic Park regenerated derelict areas.

Read about how the London Velodrome is one of the greenest stadiums ever, or see the Topic Zone in Antenna.

Some stadiums saved energy by capturing their own water and sunlight.
