Get sporty

I wasn’t keen on PE at school. Netball was the only sport girls were allowed to do, and I was rubbish at netball. But things are improving – following a recent government inspection, most schools were rated as ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ for their sports education.

But there’s still room for improvement. The inspectors say schoolkids need to do more strenuous exercise, to help build strength and stamina. The government also reckons that schools need to adapt their PE lessons to help the fight against obesity.

So are the inspectors right? Can PE help to keep obesity at bay?
