It’s dark, but does it matter?

  • June 20, 2012 | Pippa

It’s a surprising fact that most of our universe is made up of something we can’t see or feel. Scientists only know that this ‘dark matter’ exists because something out there is having a gravitational effect on light.

In 2019 the European Space Agency will launch Euclid, a satellite designed to map the dark matter across a third of the heavens. This will give scientists much-needed information so they can try to puzzle out this mysterious side to our universe.
