A shiny way to save the world

    In March I wore my new summer dress and had lunch in the sunshine. In April my winter boots are back on and parts of the UK had snow! There’s definitely something funny going on – and our crazy weather might be a result of our warming planet.

    Scientists think that making our roofs and pavements more shiny could reflect heat away from Earth, lowering its temperature. The effect could be the same as taking every car off the road for 50 years!

    Can we help our planet by giving our neighbourhoods a quick polish?

Resurfacing roofs and pavements with brighter materials could lower the temperature of our planet by 0.07 degrees celsius.
