Does climate change cause heat waves?

  • August 8, 2012 | Pippa

The UK summer might have been very mixed, but the US has been baking hot.

There’s been a lot of speculation about whether this is normal weather variation or an event directly caused by climate change. Now NASA has weighed into the argument – saying a recent study shows America’s sizzling summer is down to our changing climate.

Other scientists don’t think we can attribute single extreme weather events to climate change, at least not yet. But I do know that scientists are all saying extreme weather will become more common.
