Climate change link to UK floods
-
February 17, 2011 |
I know that climate change affects our weather, but now scientists have put a number on it. New research suggests that climate change made the UK floods in 2000 twice as likely to happen.
Using computer models, scientists found that as levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are higher than they used to be, the risk of this sort of flooding has doubled. Now I’m no gambling man, but I don’t like the sound of those odds!
This research appears in the 16 February 2011 issue of Nature.
