Meet the Denisovans
-
December 23, 2010 |
This is an unexpected Christmas present. A long lost relative of ours has been discovered in a cave in Russia, but I don’t think they’ll be joining in any festive celebrations…
The ‘Denisovians’ were a species of humans that lived in Asia around 30,000 years ago. They lived alongside our ancestors and, judging by DNA evidence, bred with them too.
Scientists aren’t sure when Denisovans disappeared from the scene, but they think it probably had something to do with us.
