Dodgy drone landings

  • March 19, 2013 | Nicola

I’d love to have a go at flying a drone, but I worry that I might crash it on my first attempt! However, it turns out my dodgy practice landings could help the European Space Agency (ESA).

If you own a Parrot drone quadracopter you can download ESA’s new app which collects data about how you navigate your drone. All the data collected will help ESA to train robotic spacecraft to handle different docking situations.

I think it’s time I help our future space efforts and get one for myself…

The app developers say it would be practically impossible to gather large amounts of data like this in any other way.
