Tidal power

  • January 14, 2013 | Jasmine

I’ve always loved the idea of harnessing nature to satisfy our thirst for energy, from solar panels to wind turbines. So what’s next?

New research suggests that tidal power could provide up to 20% of the UK’s electricity. Engineers would place turbines underwater or in tidal barrages. This is costly – but the ebb and flow of tides is predictable, so this renewable energy source could prove a lot more reliable than wind turbines. Another great way to work with our natural resources!
