Deaf mice grow hearing hairs

    I love listening to my favourite songs on the radio – really loudly! But it isn’t very good for my ears…

    Hearing loss can be caused by damage to tiny hairs in our ears that detect sound and send signals to our brain.

    Researchers at Massachusetts Eye and Ear and Harvard Medical School have found a way to grow back these precious hairs and reverse deafness. Up to now, however, this experiment has only been tried in mice. So before I get ahead of myself I’ll cautiously lower the volume…
