Gambling on graphene

  • August 7, 2012 | David

What would you do with £50 million? Nobel Prize-winning scientists at Manchester University plan to spend it developing graphene technology.

Graphene is a carbon structure with interesting electrical properties. The government wants scientists to use their understanding of graphene to make profitable technology.

Graphene looks promising, but we haven’t seen any commercial uses of it yet. I think that funding research is great, but I don’t expect a stream of new graphene gadgets on the shelves super soon.
