    If you go to school, next time you’re about to set off, try this simple experiment. Grab a set of scales and weigh your school bag. You may be at risk of back pain…

    Spanish researchers weighed the school bags of over 1400 Spanish children. They found that if children carry loads above 10% of their body weight, they’re more likely to get back pain.

    Science once again proves what’s kind of obvious. If you value your health, leave the heavy lifting to ants, cranes and Olympians!

    I think the movement towards ubiquitous tablet based computing (in education) means that the ‘heavy school bag’ problem is very rapidly going to become a historical footnote.
