Climate change mostly man-made

  • December 5, 2011 | Priya

UN climate talks happening at the moment remind me some people still don’t believe our current changing climate is mainly caused by humans. But the latest research adds another piece of evidence for man-made climate change.

The researchers used a new method of computer modelling to look at heat energy leaving and entering Earth’s atmosphere. This suggests temperature changes seen over the last 60 years are at least 74% caused by human activity rather than natural changes.

This method could also lead to better predictions of future climate.

Lots of heat sources were compared, with greenhouse gases (from human activity) changing temperatures the most.

    What a biased poll.
Do you think climate change is man-made?
    Yes, especially now
    I still have doubts
    I don’t know

    WHERE’S THE NO OPTION?

Biased survey, no “No” option. Talk about spinning for a result.

This survey is highly biased as there is no “no” option. Talk about unscientific selection effects!

If this is what passes for scientific information then this site is rubbish. This is nothing but mindless repetition of undigested propaganda. And you know it! I notice there options on the poll are severely limited. Pathetic and irresponsible.

I notice you still haven’t approved my earlier comment. I know a number of others have commented here critically. Do you actually think suppressing free dialogue like this can in any way be considered ‘scientific’? You are just embarrassing yourself and making a mockery of your institution.

That’ll be harmless steam coming form those chimneys, yes?

And why no NO option in your poll? Climate changes. Full stop. More and more papers who that the MWP was warmer than it is now. More and more papers show that the sun and other variables previously discounted play far more of a role in heating and cooling than we have been told.

Well, you were right about that. It’s globalisation now. More taxes, more lies and more funding of NGOs to tell us how to live our lives.

Firstly I find staggering at the gap in understanding between, our supposed learned class and what actually goes on within certain scientific fields. Computer models do not output evidence as suggested. Models are nothing more than hypotheses that need to be tested against observation OUTSIDE their training sets. At the moment all the model says is that you can process the inputs in such away as to produce the outputs – now go test.

Secondly, where is the no option.

    The Science museum has a poll on the front page of its website which reads as follows;
Do you think climate change is man-made?

    Yes, especially now
    I still have doubts
    I don’t know

Where is the option ‘No I don’t think climate change is man made?
    Your propoganda isn’t even subtle.
Manmade co2 is just 2% of total co2 levels – so you should also have an option on your survey which states that ‘I am certain climate change is not man made’.

Kids! I hope you’re all smart enough not to take for granted everything you read on sites like this. Delve a little. Google Anthropogenic Global Warming. Join the debate. Beware of government propaganda and when questioning dodgy information like this, ask yourself “why are they saying that and where is the money coming from?”.

    Where’s the “NO” option?

Oh, and by the way, computer models are not capable of predicting the outcome of coupled non-linear chaotic systems, not even close.

That is not at issue, check IPCC 4 on the subject.

The research in this case is a large study in a leading journal. The study attributes 74% of climate change to human activity.

The poll was designed to see whether this information had influenced people’s thinking on climate change or not. If people feel their views are not represented in the poll responses, we have a comments section for people to express their opinions, within our user guidelines.

That study is a joke, I saw one a few months ago that said the warming was 98% natural and another that said humans could not possibly be responsible for more than 40% of warming and that’s including bad temperature stations and heat island effect.
    Throw this in the mix…
