Contraceptive increases risk of HIV

    I find this story alarming. A popular contraceptive used in several sub-Saharan African countries appears to make women and their partners twice as likely to become infected with HIV.

    What seems even worse is that research as far back as 1996, carried out on macaques, had the same finding. It’s taken until now, with this study on 3790 couples, to confirm the result. I just wonder how long it will take to be included in the public health information women receive…
